On April 11, 2025, Michael Barz from IML successfully defended his dissertation before the examination committee of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oldenburg, which included his supervisor Professor Sonntag, Professor Krüger, and Professor Boll.

In his dissertation, he researched new methods for eye-tracking-based interaction and presented approaches as to how these can be used in intelligent user interfaces. The focus was on the interpretation of users’ gaze direction and eye movements with the help of machine learning methods and user-centered development and evaluation. The IML research department congratulates on this achievement!
